There are many styles and approaches to therapy. Choosing who to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with is a very personal decision. Often the best barometer for making this decision is how you feel about yourself when around the other person. If the feeling is a positive one, this is often because an empathic natural connection is present. When a client chooses to work with me, this connection is something I cherish and is the foundation of our work together.

I work from a collaborative strength-based relational approach to therapy and utilize cognitive behavioral perspectives as well. My method is grounded in empathy and tailored to your unique needs, preferences, and situation. I view people as being formed developmentally by their family experiences as well as the spiritual influences and social contexts in which they grew up and live. Often these influences result in the formation of personal strengths which we will identify and explore in session. From this perspective I will listen carefully; we will reflect together on your past and present experience of the world, your desires for the future, and the changes you wish to make.

This process will help you articulate and clearly understand any potential underlying issues and develop a strategy to effectively move through these issues. This will be done by exploring what you’ve noticed helps you; identifying what you enjoy, what’s working in your life and the conditions and actions that lead you to feeling better. This approach is designed to inspire and nurture strengths and resources that support your resiliency and continued improvement.
